Pregnancy Update: Week 24

These weeks are flying by! I was 24 weeks as of last Saturday. This week has been busy, busy. I am working full-time with plenty of overtime at a local preschool. I wasn’t sure if it would be difficult to teach 2 year olds while pregnant, but “my” children have really been great. Everyday they touch my belly and say things like “You got a baby in your belly” or “It is a boy baby”. I wonder if the parents have mentioned to them that they need to be gentle around me. None of them are rough around me. They are actually the opposite. Each one of them love for me to hold them while we sit on the floor. They especially love hugs!

No workouts for me this week. I have come home from work, picked Connor up (my kids at work love him too-he visits about once a week), had dinner and went straight to sleep about every night this week. My body isn’t exhausted, I’m just sleepy. Connor spends most of his days at the pool so he is sleepy when he gets home too. All of us are absolutely getting more than 8 hours of sleep a night and it is heavenly.

I have an appointment next Tuesday for my diabetes test. I remember thinking that the drink didn’t taste all that bad with Connor. Was similar to Gatorade to me. The week after that I have another elective ultrasound at our local community college.

Weight Gain: We will see when I go to the doctor next Tuesday. I absolutely have gained more than the 3 pounds now. I feel it and see it.

Cravings: Still ice cold Coke. I am trying my best to avoid it. I am also currently addicted to frozen banana popsicles.

Aversions: Mexican. I used to crave Mexican food in my first trimester. I walked into my favorite Mexican restaurant last week to meet some friends and I immediately felt like I was going to throw up. I became over heated, sweaty and couldn’t eat much. I’m avoiding it for awhile.

The Good: We can easily see Dawson’s kicks and movements now! We are also able to hear his heart beat on the monitor that we bought a few months ago. My sweet friend, Robin gave me some maternity clothes. A co-worker of mine had her son about six months ago and today she filled my car with bags and bags full of maternity clothes and newborn items! Connor is getting more excited about becoming a brother. He constantly has his hands on my stomach and talks to the baby. I am looking so forward to seeing these two interact together!

The Bad: This was the first week that I had to get up once every night to pee. I like my sleep so that has not been fun.

Baby’s Size: I’ve read that he is about the size of a cantaloupe.
