We made it to Orlando around 9 o’clock last night. The trip took us about 8 1/2 hours, which included 2 stops. I don’t think that is too bad! We didn’t run into any bad traffic, and we had a pretty good time.
We checked Connor out of school at 11:30 (that way he was counted present for the whole day) and after grabbing a bite to eat we finally left town around 12:30.
We bought that Mickey Mouse while Connor was on his first trip to Disney World in 2010. He travels with us every time we go now-a tradition we enjoy and hope Connor will keep with his children.
Connor read and slept during the drive, my dad was behind the wheel, and Andrew tried to study. I worked on some of my tutu orders. I finished a tutu for my new friend in Georgia to wear while running in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon next month.
Another tradition we have is to stop at the Florida Welcome Center, take a picture in front of the sign and try a sample of orange juice. Unfortunately, the building was closed but we were able to snap our photo.
We would be staying the night in Disney World beginning Friday, so for this night we stayed at Holiday Inn in Kissimmee. Dad checked us in quickly and then we headed to one of our favorite local restaurants, Little Italy. Andrew and I found this restaurant on our last trip to Disney World in May 2012. We loved the food, atmosphere and service so we really wanted to go back and have my dad try it.
We were a little tired, can you tell?
For an appetizer we ordered the fried mozzarella. It is so yummy and not greasy like at most other restaurants.
They also gave us a delicious loaf of bread.
Andrew ordered the chicken parmesan.
I ordered spaghetti and meatballs off of the children’s menu.
Again, this restaurant did not disappoint! We want to keep this a tradition at the beginning of our future Disney World trips.
After dinner, we went to our room, gave Connor a bath and all of us crashed in the beds soon after. It was a long day and we would have an even longer one the next day!
Today we will be at the expo (a first for us!), eating lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe’ (another first for us) going to Downtown Disney, hopefully getting in some pool time at our resort (Caribbean Beach-a new hotel to us) and watching Wishes! from the Polynesian Beach.
