Friday 5

I am so relieved that the weekend is here! My little family has had one action-packed, stressful week. Andrew is taking classes to become a Physical Therapy Assistant at our local community college. His day classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. The only break he has in between these classes is enough time to walk across campus. Then he has CNA night classes Monday-Thursdays from 5 to 9. He is taking these classes to get extra points when he applies for the PTA program in the spring.

I have been busy working and spending time at Girls on the Run events this week. I had several meetings this week and I am pretty much acting as a single mother on Mondays and Wednesdays and every night. This has become precious, meaningful time between me and Connor but it is a transition because Andrew and I very much believe in co-parenting.

We didn’t work out or run a single day this week! We leave for our 10 Miler in 13 days! This was not a good time to cool it at the gym! We have decided that today is our “re-group” day. We are making our house spotless, we are writing out a schedule for every single day next week and making sure we make time to run and workout. We are also writing out a menu for next week. Today will be a busy day, but we have a group coming over from our church tonight and Andrew and I are going on a double date afterwards so we have a couple of things to look forward to tonight.

Let’s move on to my Friday 5:

2. Tutu Skirts

I am so excited to share this special news with you all. My favorite Disney/running blogger asked me to make her a tutu and headband to wear for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler! Some of you may have an idea of who she is, but I want to keep it a secret until she mentions it on her blog. I was so nervous to mail it to her because so far I have only made tutus for my friends and family.

I was pretty happy with how her tutu turned out and I can’t wait to share the photo with you guys-again, it is a secret until she shares it on her blog. She is promoting my Girls on the Run fundraiser for me, which I appreciate so much. I’ve raised a really nice amount so far but I still have a little bit to go to reach my goal.

3. Tomorrow

We have NO PLANS tomorrow! This is totally exciting for us! After such a busy week (and with our next two weekends slammed with commitments) we need tomorrow in a bad way! We are sleeping in, I’m making Andy’s costume for the Tower of Terror race and we promised Connor we would all take Bruce to the dog park. I plan to spend most of the day in my pajamas and watching a movie with my family. I. CANNOT. WAIT.

4. Training, Training, Training…

Next week I plan to have several intense workouts and a long run. I am hoping to squeeze in a few two-a-days and really log in some miles. I want to be prepared to run the 10 Miler in two weeks and I’m not there yet, even mentally. I need to re-group and re-focus. I cannot let myself get swept and I will cross that finish line and wear that huge medal around my neck all weekend. Please keep praying for me and send me some encouragement. I am crossing something huge off of my bucket list-I’ve always wanted to run at a runDisney event.

5. The Power of Prayer

Andrew’s accident taught me so much about the power of prayer. He was prayed for constantly, and our family is still being blessed in ways we never could have predicted. Just look at him-he finished 1st in his age group in his first 10K not even three months after his wreck! 

I was at a meeting for work Wednesday night. We had a prayer time and it was incredibly moving to me. I had several people spontaneously come up to me and pray for me. They somehow knew I needed it. It was encouraging and rejuvenating. God’s presence was all over that room, and it was amazing to see so much joy, faith and strength on so many faces.

I have got to start praying more. I routinely pray, but I don’t want that. I don’t want my prayers and prayer time to be predictable. I need to talk to God at random times throughout the day. I encourage you to pray along with me. If you need prayer, send me an email or let me know some other way. I’ll be there for you, like so many people were there for my family.

I am so ready to get this weekend started. I love a schedule and a spotless house, so I can’t wait to get moving today!
