“….let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
The more Lesley and I grow in our faith and continue on our fitness journey together, the more we realize God is a big picture kind of guy. You may not know exactly where the path he’s telling you to follow will lead, or just how well you’ll run the race you’re called to participate in, but sometimes taking the first step is all God requires from you before he gives you the endurance you need to do what you once thought was just a pipe dream.
You have to commit yourself. Make a resolution to yourself that you will endure, and with God’s help, you will.
Always remember to run the race God has called you to run. The same chapter in Hebrews tells us not to “grow weary” or “lose heart.” We love running because it draws such pertinent parallels to life. No one runs the same. Paces are different. Some strides are longer than others. Some take different routes. Some have been running all their lives. Some, like us, just started. The fact is, perseverance is required in life in the same way it is in a race.
Speaking of races…
Lesley set her personal record at the Moonlight 5K in Greer on Friday, running it in 38 minutes. Her goal was to run it in 39 or less. Compare that to 56 minutes (mostly walking) for her very first 5K in 2010 and 42 minutes in last month’s Hero’s 5K, and it’s easy to see why we’re excited.
It’s a great occasion for a giveaway!
